My favourite links
This is nothing more than a page I've made to show off some of my personal favourite places online. Barring my social media, for no other reason than the fact that my homepage has already covered that. Also I have gone to the effort of making a page where the entire idea is to show alternatives to Generative AI. That is it's own page because even by the standards of this site, it was kind of jarring to voice my thoughts on AI on this linkpage so...here you go
To start with, websites I consider to be significant culturally.
Now lets deal with entertainment
Creatives I admire (with their own website
This is a quick place where "I found these people online, I like their art, here's their personal website." Not much else to say
- Literal Hat - a musician/visual artist who used to have a Newgrounds account. I quite enjoy what she's made - both in terms of drawing and music
- Shadok - Creator of the web series Loveweb. Genuinely talented animator and knows how to make engaging edutainment
- Nicky Case - A lot of these people are Newgrounds associated. Nicky is a video game developer who I honestly love the work of. Coming Out Simulator 2014 being an early favourite of mine. However, what I love about her work is that she does make "gut punch" games like We Become What We Behold or Adventures In Anxiety but isn't above making silly and random bullshit like her :the game: series.
- Adam Phillips - Adam is one of the OG greats of Newgrounds in that he was a Disney animator who wanted to contribute and at a time when the maximum file size upload to Newgrounds was 5MB, he REALLY pushed the technology to make some really interesting animations. Making an entire series with the intent of a film "Brackenwood."
The News
Two things before I start this one - I am an Australian. I don't usually seek out world news just on the basis of "isn't it sad what's happening in Europe?" It is but I prefer bad news I could hypothetically do something about, you know? Second, I judge a good news source based on how much people in power try to silence said voice, either by deplatforming or murder.
- Michael West Media
- Independent Australia
- Red Flag
- Wikileaks
- The Onion (I don't normally like satirical news but The Onion feels like it cuts through the BS better than mainstream journalists)
- FriendlyJordies (as this guy has gotten older, I think he's become a lot more deliberately provocative in the worst way possible. That said, he HAS had people in power try to silence him - his golden age, in my view was 2019- 2022).
Shopping
Were any of you really dumb enough to fall for that last one?
