My favourite links

This is nothing more than a page I've made to show off some of my personal favourite places online. Barring my social media, for no other reason than the fact that my homepage has already covered that.

To start with, websites I consider to be significant culturally.

• The first website ever created
• A guide for how to behave online from 1995
• The Verbasizer - a fan recreation of a website David Bowie created in the mid 90s to write the lyrics to the album, 1. Outside If you're not familiar with that album, its my personal favourite and I'll link it here
• Ecosia - a search engine built around the conservation of trees

Now lets deal with entertainment

• My Abandonware - a Video Game repository
• Project Gutenberg - public domain books
• archive.org - a site dedicated to archival of online content and other interesting things
• my90stv - a website designed to cobble YouTube videos together to emulate watching 90s Television
• my00stv - a website designed to cobble YouTube videos together to emulate watching 2000s TV (there are others but all are accessible from the link provided - I just visit those two the most)
• Flashpoint - a downloadable repository of flash games which, after download, you can play in spite of an internet connection (I love Newgrounds' content but the "in spite of an internet connection" AND the fact that Newgrounds isn't/wasn't the only Flash content online is good enough reason to download, even if you DO have a Newgrounds account, like me)
• Bandcamp - a website used for buying and downloading independent music (my albums are hosted there AND on the artpage but there is a lot more on there)
• The Nicest Place - a website designed around giving its users a pick me up
• JS Paint - A Microsoft Paint clone
• uTorrent - The original "entertainment from Captain Jack."
• qBittorrent - ANOTHER "Captain Jack entertainment avenue"

The News

Two things before I start this one - I am an Australian. I don't usually seek out world news just on the basis of "isn't it sad what's happening in Europe?" It is but I prefer bad news I could hypothetically do something about, you know? Second, I judge a good news source based on how much people in power try to silence said voice, either by deplatforming or murder.

• The Onion (I don't normally like satirical news but The Onion feels like it cuts through the BS better than mainstream US journalists at Fox or CNN - I can hate both!)
• FriendlyJordies (don't like his comedy or ALL his work but I DID say the mark of a good journalist is one who the powerful try to shut up and that's happened to him multiple times)

Shopping!

Short intro again, I am editing the URLs of these websites to make it universal to you regardless of where you happen to live

• Ebay - I think most know what this is but its a good "Amazon for those who don't want to use Amazon"
• Gumtree - a bit "garage saley" but you'll still find some interesting stuff being sold there

Now for some clothing websites

• Holy Clothing - female oriented fantasy themed clothing
• City Chic - trendy clothing for plus size girls
• Snag Tights - Tights and clothing for plus size girls (referencing tights specifically because thats what they started out as)
• Beserk - a Gothic Clothing site, gender neutral in focus
• Dys4ick - a company with a focus on creating trans affirming undergarments, regardless of gender

Should be in the "entertainment" section, probably, but Video Games!

• GOG - online video games, specializing in retro PC stuff
• Steam - online video games, more modern in focus
• Super Retro - an Australian store that specializes in physical media games
• Fully Retro - the same as before but always online and seems to have a cutoff date of 2010 for products
